Around here, due to the unpredictable weather, it is best to not plant new flowers until after Mother's Day at the earliest, preferably around Memorial Day. However, I just couldn't stand not have color in the yard anymore, so I looked at the Weather Channel, crossed my fingers, and went ahead and planted some flowers yesterday. We even planted a new tree that eventually can provide some shade to our spare bedroom that gets so hot in the summer.
This year we went with mostly perennials so that we don't have to keep buying flowers, except I had to put in Gerber Daisies. I just love them. Jim even cleaned out the garage and I scored by getting pea plants, which I couldn't find anywhere last year. I also planted some carrot seeds, so we will see how they do. Hopefully, next weekend we can get the garden tilled and set up so that we can plant in the next couple of weeks the rest of the garden.
Since I will be starting class again on May 18, I want to get as much done as possible before then. Besides with the way we set up the garden, once we get it all set up and planted there is not a lot for us to do except sit around and wait for harvest time. Gotta love it!
I have to say it was so nice to be playing in the dirt again! Mother Nature has even been kind and has provided rain so I haven't had to water the lawn or flowers yet. Woohoo! I just love spring, summer, and fall!
