I've Become a Squirrel!

I feel like I have become a squirrel, hording away my "nuts" for the winter with all of the canning and freezing I have done and will be doing in the next month. It just cracks me up.
This is my first year really doing a lot of canning and freezing, so I am feeling so domestic!
I even had the opportunity to use my food processor for the first time this week. My first thoughts when using it: "Where have you been all my life!" It was fabulous! I couldn't believe how quickly it chopped and shredded. Now I can see why people love them.
We finally got a freezer. I will spare you all of the details of the continued nightmare with Lowe's but we ended up with the bigger freezer when we quickly realized that chances of us getting the one we ordered was pretty slim. We are now in the process of slowly filling it up. It's just so nice to take the excess out of our fridge and put it in the freezer. Also to be able to harvest some things and have a placed to put them!
I tried my hand at freezer jam this past week and put the jam in the cutest little jars for gifts at Christmas with homemade bread. Raspberries should be on in the next couple of weeks so we will be picking some and make more jam from them. Hopefully next year we will start to get our own. We actually have a couple of blackberries and strawberries this year! Hopefully everything will survive through the winter!
Anywhoo . . . stay tuned. We start our new cake decorating class tonight and have been asked to make a cake this next week. If it turns out well, I will post pictures.
Hope everyone is well and surviving the heat!
